EVENT RECAP | NMOSD & MOGAD: GLOBAL CHALLENGES

Posted by: The Sumaira Foundation in Community, Events, News & Announcements

On October 21, 2026, we welcomed over 100 clinicians, researchers, patients, caregivers, and industry partners from around the world to NMOSD & MOGAD: Global Challenges—an evening of discussion, mentorship, and networking with leading experts in the field.

We are deeply grateful to Drs. Courtney Casserly and Jonathan Krett for their collaboration and partnership in bringing this event to life. Producing an event of this caliber would not have been possible without their support, and we are proud to have worked together to create an opportunity for meaningful connection and collaboration across the global NMOSD and MOGAD communities.

The event took place on the day MSToronto kicked off, as approximately 7,000 delegates from around the world gathered for research updates, networking, science, advocacy, and more.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported and attended the event. It is through the generosity, collaboration, and commitment of this community that The Sumaira Foundation has been able to support over $1.4 million in research, fellowships, diagnostic efforts, medical conferences, and journal publications since 2018.

The conversation explored emerging global disparities in diagnosis and treatment, collaborative research priorities and mentorship for the next generation of neuroimmunology professionals. This unique format gave our panelists the opportunity to reflect on the personal journeys that shaped their careers and lives, sharing meaningful experiences, the mentors who guided them along the way and words of wisdom for the next generation of neuroimmunologists who listened intently to this heartwarming and enlightening discussion.
