On June 9, 2025, Elena Damiani, TSF Ambassador for Italy, participated in the EUPATI Patient Academy meeting titled “The Role of Patients in Decision-Making Processes: Awareness, Training, Participation,” held in Milan, aimed to raise awareness and promote the active involvement of patients in healthcare decisions. The event emphasized the importance of structured collaboration between institutions, industry and patient communities. It also served as an opportunity to reflect on how to establish and formally recognize the role of patients in public decision-making settings. During the meeting, diplomas were awarded to participants of the course “Medical Devices Universe: From Design to Patient Use,” organized by EUPATI.
Among the graduates was Elena, a EUPATI Patient Expert living with NMOSD. She received a specialization diploma in the field of medical devices. For Elena, this achievement represents just the beginning of a longer journey, one focused on deepening her knowledge of the drug development process and becoming a well-informed and respected advocate in the healthcare landscape.
