Welcome Genevieve, Community Development Manager

Posted by: The Sumaira Foundation in News & Announcements

The Sumaira Foundation (TSF) is pleased to announce Genevieve Richards as Community Development Manager, a strategic leadership role focused on strengthening and scaling the organization’s global Ambassador network.

Genevieve received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Central College and earned her Master of Public Health from Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences. Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of science and community — translating complex scientific information into meaningful engagement, building stakeholder partnerships, and developing outreach strategies that turn awareness and advocacy into action.

“Advocacy and awareness are deeply personal to me. I believe science is most powerful when it serves people — especially those navigating uncertainty, delayed or misdiagnoses, or feeling unheard. The work TSF is doing ensures that neuroimmune patients are not only seen, but that their voices are amplified and supported — and that matters.”

Driven by a deep commitment to using evidence-based research to advance public health strategies, Genevieve has led initiatives centered on community impact and engagement, with a particular focus on improving health equity in underserved populations. Her work reflects a strong foundation in research analysis, health communication, program implementation, and cross-sector collaboration.

She combines research-informed strategy with deep community engagement, strengthening programs that empower ambassadors and keep patient experiences at the center of TSF’s work. Her focus is on equipping advocates with the tools, structure, and confidence to transform lived experience into collective action — driving awareness, meaningful connection, and sustained community growth.

“Neuroimmune patients deserve visibility, urgency, and systems that truly support them. I’m excited to help build the infrastructure that empowers their voices. When ambassadors are supported well, their impact multiplies — positioning them to lead conversations that advance education, research, and global awareness.”

Genevieve will focus on strengthening ambassador onboarding and engagement frameworks, fostering collaborative partnerships, and expanding TSF’s reach across North America and beyond. As TSF continues raising awareness, advancing research, and supporting patients worldwide, her leadership marks a meaningful step toward scaling impact while maintaining authenticity and community trust.
