EVENT RECAP | TSF 5k

Posted by: The Sumaira Foundation in News & Announcements

On Sunday, September 28th, The Sumaira Foundation (TSF) hosted its inaugural 5K for Rare Neuroimmune Disorders in Weston, Massachusetts, a heartwarming and impactful event that brought together over 150 runners, walkers and supporters from across the region.

Together, we raised $20,000 to support research efforts aimed at better understanding and treating rare neuroimmune conditions.

This inspiring event was organized by Terry Clark, a dedicated advocate who lives with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and her son, Patrick. Terry and Patrick’s vision and leadership were instrumental in bringing the local community together to raise awareness and vital funds for these often-overlooked conditions.

Participants of all ages joined in the scenic run/walk through Weston, creating a powerful sense of unity, resilience and hope. From families affected by rare neuroimmune disorders to local residents and longtime TSF supporters, the 5K was a testament to the strength and solidarity of our growing community.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our generous event sponsors, whose support made this day possible:
Embarc, Amgen, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Genentech, Boston Vision, Lee & CrowleyPortal Instruments and Citizens Bank. Special thanks to the Town of Weston, Weston Police Department, StretchMed, Intuitive Wellness, Wegman’s and Roche Brothers. Thank you for standing with us in the fight against rare neuroimmune disorders.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered us on and especially to Terry for turning her journey into action. Every step taken moved us closer to a future with better treatments, greater understanding, and ultimately, a cure.

Thank you for being part of this incredible day!
